Your journey into the real estate investment field

My journey into real estate started in 2016 as a sales associate at a boutique residential real estate firm. I supported the full sales cycle, all the way through to property management. After finishing my degree, I worked in a consulting capacity, establishing networks with thought leaders across a wide array of industries. I then transitioned internally to support my fund manager and analyst clients with their investment research. I have a strong research and client-centric background, coupled with prior experience in the real estate industry.

Areas of real estate investment you're most knowledgeable about

I am most knowledgeable about the benefits of real estate as an investment vehicle, especially in comparison to other forms of investment such as listed equities. I understand how the markets work and have a keen interest in staying abreast of economic drivers impacting the decision-making landscape.

A challenging memory that comes to mind

A recurring challenge I encounter is working with different personalities, especially fixed mindsets. There are many ways to invest and many perspectives. I navigate this through empathy, open discussion, education, and patience.

I relish finding unique opportunities for clients who are in different stages of their investment portfolios. I worked with a couple who were seasoned investors but looking to diversify interstate. We managed to find a beautiful dual-key property in a handful of weeks, which fit perfectly into their current portfolio.

Hobbies and Interests Outside Work

I enjoy exploring and globetrotting, having lived in both Canada and Southern Spain. Through this, I have learned a bit of Spanish and am currently studying Mandarin Chinese. You’d find me most days at the gym, practising yoga, or taking long walks with friends. I love making cocktails, and drinking specialty coffee and Japanese whisky.

I have been exposed to a wide array of personalities and cultures. Through my mindfulness practices, I approach situations with a sense of calm and patience. I have studied psychology and linguistics, and I believe I have a good sense of reading between the lines.

Vision and Future Goals

Of course, AI and data-driven decisions will play a significant role. I foresee populations migrating regionally as costs rise and remote working opportunities increase. Government infrastructure will continue to develop, making these more viable locations to live and commute from.

Professionally, I hope to be more involved with the strategy side of the business. I’d love to gain more insight into the data and make impactful decisions. Personally, I hope to be able to read and write 2,000 Chinese characters (I’m at about 200 at the time of writing!).
